Popular Mechanics Magazine US App Reviews

Very disappointed

Looked at 3 paper issues. Ive seen more skill & inventiveness in 1927 PM issues than current articles that lend me to believe men now days dont even know how to hammer a nail. Three PM locations for "create password" the web page buying a digital subscription, then sign in on my I-pad, then change password via e-mail link, ALL have different requirements! One requires a capital letter, another you cannot use a symbol like $, and one min 6 digits, another more didgets! What do you call a mag that cant manage its password requirements!

Basically scanned pages... Poor experience

Great Graphics

Its a fun way to carry and read on the road. I subscribe to the "paper" copy, and would get both if there was a special offer! I love passing the mag on to others while keeping issues, for future reference, on my iPad.

Subscription just ran out and not renewing

Due to not accommodating paid paper subscriptions and the long history of lack and poor customer service provided by Popular Mechanics I have decided to let my subscription run out and not renew it this time. I had a 5yr prepaid print subscription yet the Popular Mechanics wouldnt allow me to change my subscription from print to digital, allow me access to digital without paying for another subscription, or even allow me access to back issues. Almost every other digitally published magazine (now including Popular Science) allows print subscription access to digital.

Excellent

This app is indicative of why Popular Mechanics are succeeding when so many other traditional American magazines are failing. Very well put together, instantly available, works seamlessly on iOS on an iPad or iPhone. And the magazine itself is as cutting edge and informative as ever. Nice to see some things never change! Definitely recommended. 5/5 Stars!

Excellent execution

First, I have no affiliation with the publisher. Beautiful; photography, illustrations, layout and function. Stories are well curated. Writing is interesting and clever. Bought a issue from kindle for iPad, horrible. Just a PDF shrunk down.IPad app. Is totally different; easy to read, navigate, with fun interaction. One of the better magazines out there.

Ok when it works

Very glitchy. Ok when it works. Often cant download new issues without going thru some form of re-log.

Great content, bad app

The issues dont download completely. Contacted tech support - they said its called progressive downloading. You get the cover loaded, then at some point in your life the rest of the issue will load. Nooooope. Impossible to read offline because it decided not to download articles. You get the fuzzy image and a "loading" bar that loads forever even on the fastest wifi.

very accessible

I was directed here after reviewing the newsstand app in the iOS 9 update. The popular mechanics sample digital magazine looks very interesting. The nicest feature is being able to store clips from the magazine onto your phone or iOS device.

Popular Mechanics

I like the user interface of the digital magazine. Can be a lengthy download with weak wifi.

Not formatted for device

Youve got to be kidding. Magazine pages just dumped onto the tiny iPhone screen. How 2001. Glad Ill be getting the physical magazine.

Something interesting to read

Popular mechanics

We all know about the magazine, but have you read it on a smart phone or mobile device? If not check it out you wont be disappointed.

Doesnt fully download content for offline viewing

I subscribe to several digital magaines. This interface/app is my least favorite. Even though you download the magazines to your device they dont actually fully download. Instead it finishes the download only when you try to read or view that page. So for offline viewing its pointless.
